Venezuela severed diplomatic relations with seven countries in response to their criticisms of President Nicolás Maduro's recent re-election.

The US labeled the election as "suspicious," but other nations have taken a firmer stance. Argentina, Chile, Panama, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Peru, and the Dominican Republic have outright condemned the election results as fraudulent.

The move comes after these nations questioned the legitimacy of the election results, which saw Maduro claim a narrow victory of just one percent.
